Meet our Therapists

All our physiotherapists are Chartered (members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) and registered with the Health Professionals Council. We continue to maintain and upgrade our clinical skills by regularly attending post-graduate education.

Russell Baragwanath
Russell qualified with a BSc(Hons) in Physiotherapy from St. Mary’s Hospital, Paddington in 1994. Following this, he worked in both the NHS and private sectors, specialising in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. In 1998, he founded Ruislip Physiotherapy, Sports & Spinal Clinic, and continues to guide its development. Russell specialises in the treatment of spinal pain and sports injuries, including looking after players at Ruislip RFC. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine, the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Paul Gibson
Paul qualified from university in 2001 after completing 2 degrees in sports sciences at Brunel and physiotherapy from East London. Since then he has worked at Mount Vernon Hospital and at Ruislip Physiotherapy where he specializes in treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and sporting injuries. He is our specialist in lower limb biomechanics and shoulder rehabilitation.
Outside of work Paul is captain of Ruislip Rugby Club, competes for Ealing Athletics club and has developed an interest in Triathlons after completing the London race in 2006.

Sarah Kirk
Following qualifying as a physiotherapist in 2001 and achieving a Bsc Hons degree from the University of East London, I have worked for the NHS, gaining experience in a number of different areas. In more recent years I have continued to work for the NHS as a senior Physio specialising in spinal musculoskeletal conditions. I also treat private patients with a variety of conditions including back pain, sporting injuries and other musculoskeletal conditions. 

Libby Whelpton
Elizabeth (Libby) Whelpton is a Musculoskeletal & Women’s Health Chartered Physiotherapist with 35 years experience working in the NHS. She recently retired as the clinical lead in the Musculoskeletal & Women’s Health Physiotherapy Service for Brent PCT to work in private practice. As well as specializing in women’s health physiotherapy, she is a qualified clinical pilates instructor, dealing in rehabilitation for spinal pain, as well as neurotrophic treatment of Bell’s facial palsy.

She is a member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Women’s Health (ACPWH) and has attended specialist courses on vaginal examination, urinary incontinence and physical conditions in pregnancy. She maintains a high level of  skills in these areas by participating in lectures and workshops run by the ACPWH, pilates and acupuncture institutes.

Karthikeyan Krishnaswamy
More often known as Karthik Krishna, he qualified as a physiotherapist in 1998. He then worked in Sports medicine for 4 years during which time he completed his Masters Degree in Physiotherapy specialising in Musculoskeletal Disorders. He then moved into NHS working in variety of disciplines. Owing to his focus in musculoskeletal problems he then moved onto work for the UK army purely focussing on musculoskeletal injuries & rehabilitation. In 2006 Karthik presented at Defence Medical Rehabilitation Conference in Birmingham on “Evidences & Concepts of Spinal Loading”. Karthik has done numerous courses specialising in musculoskeletal injuries and sports medicine.

He is a Credentialed McKenzie Practitioner which he achieved in 2006 having undergone the detailed training & evaluation process of the internationally renowned “McKenzie Institute International” in mechanical spinal disorders and musculoskeletal problems. Karthik is one of only two McKenzie Practitioners in Middlesex region. His details are present in the recommended McKenzie practitioners in UK registry. Karthik’s interests are primarily spine and shoulders and he is currently involved in a research program on back pain with King’s University, London. Karthik started to work for Ruislip Physiotherapy in 2007 and he also works for Hillingdon PCT as a Senior 1 Physiotherapist. He lives in Hillingdon with his beautiful wife & daughter. He loves playing cricket and due to his commitments he finds less and less time to practice his cricketing skills!
